Template Types
To create messages faster, prepare message templates in advance. Three types of templates are available in edna Pulse: operator templates, custom templates, and free templates.
Operator templates WhatsApp Viber
These are used to register a template with a service provider. A provider template can be used for broadcasts or as a basis for creating a custom template.
You can create provider templates for the following providers:
- Viber
You should register an operator template for WhatsApp in order to send broadcasts. According to Meta’s rules—the provider of the WhatsApp channel—you can send any notification to a customer if you have received at least one message from them in the last 24 hours. Otherwise, you can only send bulk messages using a pre-approved template.
Sending bulk messages via WhatsApp is only possible if you have a registered operator template.
Viber lets you save money when sending bulk messages. If you approve a carrier template, you’ll be able to send messages at a lower rate.
You can approve templates with Viber for sending service and informational messages.
Variables in message templates
You can use variables in message templates—these are special fields whose values are substituted into the message text. Variables are denoted in the template as {1}, {2}, {3}, and so on.
A single registered operator template with variables can be used for different broadcasts by substituting the appropriate values depending on the message content and recipient data.
Operator template example
Hello,
{1}! Order No.{2}is ready and will be available for pickup on{3}at the delivery point
In this example, {1}, {2}, and {3} are variables. When the message is sent, the appropriate values are substituted for them. For example:

Custom templates WhatsApp Viber
When creating a custom template, variables from the operator’s template can be replaced with recipient variables or fixed text. The values of the recipient variables are substituted when the message is sent.

Free templates are designed to save you time—they don’t require registration. There’s no limit to the number of free templates you can use.
Free templates can contain text, variables, media, and buttons—depending on the channel’s capabilities. They can be used for promotional and other messages that aren’t suitable for operator templates.
